Communications Coordinator
The Communications Coordinator provides vision, leadership, and execution for all church communications to effectively share the message, mission, and ministries of the church. This role ensures clear, consistent, and engaging communication across digital, print, and social media platforms, helping members and the community stay informed and connected.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with the church’s mission and vision.

Maintain a consistent voice, tone, and branding across all platforms.

Collaborate with pastors and ministry leaders to communicate events, initiatives, and sermon series.

Stays current on creative, communication, and technology trends and looks for opportunities to use this information to communicate with the church and community more effectively.

Creates and implements a marketing strategy to become more visible in the community.

Oversee and manage the church website (updates, events, sermon uploads, SEO basic).

Lead all social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube) including content planning, posting, and engagement.

Manage e-mail communications, newsletters, and announcements.

Write, edit, and oversee all written communication (announcements, devotionals, promotional content).

Design or coordinate graphics for sermon series, events, and ministry needs.

Capture or oversee photography and videography for church events and storytelling.

Develop creative campaigns for major church seasons (Easter, Christmas, VBS, Back to School, etc.).

Coordinate with worship and production teams for visual elements.
-
Oversee branding standards and visual identity.
-
Serve ministry leaders by helping promote events and communicate effectively.

Create and maintain a church-wide communications calendar.

Ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information.

Attend and participate in church services and events, as necessary within the position.

Attend weekly staff meetings.
MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide ongoing training and encouragement to ensure volunteers are equipped to serve effectively.

Manage the budget for communications and allocate resources effectively.

Attend conferences /workshops related to job to improve knowledge and personal skills.

Assists with emergency communications (e.g., weather-related closures)

Cultivate a volunteer team to help implement communication strategies and tactics (writers, photographers, designers, story tellers).

Assess and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies.
-
Attend Administrative Council meetings as required.
KEY COMPETENCIES:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience managing websites

Proficient in social media strategy and platforms

Proficient in the use of Canva and basic word processing applications

Strong organizational and project management skills

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Creative thinker with attention to detail

Familiarity with church management software
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism or related field preferred

2-5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or ministry-related role
-
Previous experience church communications or nonprofit environment

Strong understanding of Christian beliefs and practices
